Duchess joins store boycott

THE Duchess of Hamilton has joined Sir Roger Moore and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in their high-profile boycott of Fortnum & Mason over the store's decision to continue stocking foie gras.

In a letter to the managing director of the upmarket London department store, the Duchess, of Haddington, informed them she was returning a pack of crackers given to her as a present.

The Duchess, whose family seat is Lennoxlove House, told managing director Beverley Aspinall that her friend was unaware that Fortnum & Mason "continues to sell the hideously cruel pt foie gras."

She went on: "I do hope that you will pledge to end the sale of this most un-British of products in your store."
