Drunk made petrol bomb threat to club

James Linton, 35, claimed he was “completely out of his face” at the time and remembered nothing of the offences.

Livingston Sheriff Court was told that Linton had become increasingly loud and aggressive the more drink he consumed.

Kate Hart, prosecuting, said he was singing songs and abusing customers and staff at the Lodge St John in Bridge Street, Fauldhouse.

She added: “He was told police would be contacted if he didn’t leave. He staggered across the road and threatened to ‘petrol bomb the place’.”

Linton, of Fauldhouse, pleaded guilty to committing a religiously aggravated breach of the peace, acting in a racially aggravated manner and spitting at a woman in a racially aggravated assault last October.

Alan Jackson, defending, said the accused had been drinking heavily because it was the anniversary of his grandmother’s death.

He said: “He had no intention of carrying out any threats and appreciates this was appalling and disgusting behaviour for which he apologises.”

Sheriff Walter Mercer fined Linton £675 and ordered him to pay £500 compensation, split equally between two  people he abused.
