A CELTIC flag was fixed on the window of a Capital-bound train while fans chanted “The Huns are going bust”, a court has heard.

Drunken fans were celebrating after their side beat financially-stricken Rangers 3-0.

Falkirk Sheriff Court heard train staff called police to board the train halfway between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Joseph Battersby, 23, of Newton Street in Gorgie, and Michael Higgins, 21, of Niddrie Marischal Crescent, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

Two others – Louise Conway, 22, of Clearburn Avenue, Prestonfield, and James Argeo, 23, of Rankin Avenue, Craigmillar – had their not guilty pleas accepted.

Sheriff Mundy gave Battersby 50 hours’ unpaid work and banned him from Scottish football matches for six months. He deferred sentence on Higgins for good behaviour.
