Drummer says he is 'like honey to bees' but denies groping fans

THE drummer of award-winning band N-Dubz yesterday told a court that he was like "honey to a swarm of bees" when it came to female fans.

Aaron "Breakbeat" Fagan was giving evidence at Glasgow Sheriff Court where he is on trial for sexually assaulting two students at a Glasgow University gig.

The 25-year-old musician is alleged to have grabbed the women - aged 20 and 19 - on the rear and groped the breasts of one of them at the university's student union in October last year.

Fagan yesterday denied the charges and claimed that the girls made them up after being knocked back from the band's after-show party. He claimed that he had been touring all over Europe for years and would not have suddenly done something like this in Glasgow which is "hardly a haven for models".

The drummer is accused of sexually assaulting the girls at the John Street Union on 1 October last year, after attending the Mobo awards, which were held in Glasgow the same night.

He told the court that he was "on a high" that night after the band had won several awards.

He said: "After the gig I remember going out into the crowd to mingle with some of the fans and whoever shows me love gets love back.

"I had girls doing all sorts to me - some were pinching my arse and some were kissing me on the neck. I'm like honey to a swarm of bees."

The trial, before Sheriff Johanna Johnston, QC, continues next month.
