Drugs warning as death toll rises

Grampian Police have issued an urgent warning to heroin users following the deaths of two drug users and a near fatal overdose at the weekend.

The two drug users who died and the person who suffered the overdose were all from the Moray Firth coastal town of Banff.

Last week the force issued an alert to heroin users in the area after the drug related death of a 40-year-old man in Aberdeen.

Inspector Andy Imray said: "We would remind those in our communities who use heroin of the inherent dangers associated with taking any form of controlled drug. This has sadly become all too evident over the last few days and I would urge those who use drugs, particularly heroin, to think carefully before taking any substance."
