Drug charge pair claim they 'are not citizens'

TWO men due to stand trial for drugs offences have told a sheriff they do not believe the law applies to them, a court heard yesterday.

William and David Stirling argued before Sheriff Andrew Normand that they should not be prosecuted and challenged the competency of the court.

The pair are due to stand trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court next month, charged with producing and supplying cannabis.

Representing themselves, the pair referred to themselves as "freemans of the land". William Stirling, 50, claimed "no such evidence exists" that he is a UK citizen.

Prosecutor Bernard Ablett told the court: "They can declare whatever they like, but in my submission it is a nonsense."
