Driving test: Pass marks

The major difference between today's test and the exam Archie Scott took in 1935 is that he would not have been tested on theory.

The original test required people to demonstrate they could reverse and turn round on a road.

However, rather than demonstrate use of mirrors, Mr Scott would have had to be proficient in hand signals a big part of the Highway Code then.
