Driving-ban Day faces trial over weapon

ENTERTAINER Darren Day has been banned from driving after he admitted getting behind the wheel of his vehicle while over the limit, and failing to stop and give his name and address after an accident.

The 41-year-old is also to face trial over a charge which alleges he was in possession of an offensive weapon – a small stick-like item called a kubotan.

His pleas of not guilty to three other charges, including an allegation that he drove without due care and attention in the 18 December incident, were accepted by the Crown.

Sentence was deferred until next month at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

A motion for his vehicle to be forfeited will also be considered by the court in February.
