Drivers urged to share lifts

MOTORISTS should be encouraged to share lifts to help cut congestion and carbon emissions, the Scottish Parliament has heard.

Liberal Democrat transport spokeswoman Alison McInnes used a member's debate to highlight the benefits of lift-sharing.

Commenting after the debate, Mrs McInnes said: "Lift-sharing can go towards reducing carbon emissions. It is also an effective way of reducing costs for drivers."
