Drivers stopped in Cambuslang rape inquiry

Hide AdThe teenager was the victim of a serious sexual assault in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire, on Thursday June 6.
She had been walking through Greenlees Park at about 9pm when she was pulled to the ground by a man and assaulted.
Police Scotland yesterday released an Evofit image of the man they want to talk to in relation to the attack, which officers at the time described as a “horrific incident” .
Last night, officers interviewed motorists and people in and around the park between 8pm and 10pm.
A spokesman said 300 motorists as well as 110 other people were stopped and interviewed.
He said: “Officers are happy with the response from the public during the stop and interview operation.
“Almost 300 vehicles were stopped and an additional 110 people stopped and spoken to by officers. A number of calls have also been received by the incident room.
“Officers are also following a number of lines of inquiry.”
The suspect was described as white, with a local accent, over 6ft tall, of skinny build, with a large nose and short, dark greying hair.

Hide AdHe was said to have been wearing a grey T-shirt and blue jeans and was believed to have been driving a dark hatchback car.
