Drivers hit by £26 tariff

BUILDING work at Edinburgh Airport has led to several drivers being charged £26 for parking, despite staying less than an hour.

The airport recently introduced an "elite" car parking service on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park. The fast-track service is just a minute's walk from the terminal building, but comes at a flat rate of 26 per day.

It was aimed at business travellers, but the airport admitted it had reimbursed some drivers who had parked there by mistake, after being diverted by construction work.

Bosses have now introduced a two-hour tariff.
