Driver's chips are down

A DRUNK driver blamed the "cold snap" for getting behind the wheel and driving 300 yards to a chip shop.

John King was working late on November 27 and had two glasses of wine.

King, 33, a building maintenance supervisor from Edinburgh, was seen by a police officer who noticed his car's lights were not on.

King was disqualified for 15 months and fined 200.
