Drivers caught in crackdown

More than 200 offenders were caught and 84 vehicles seized by police during a three-day crackdown on motorists driving without proper insurance or licences.

The campaign, which ran from Tuesday to Friday last week, was co-ordinated by the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (Acpos).

Across the country, police detected a total of 207 driving offences – 70 in relation to uninsured drivers and 137 relating to driving licence offences. As a result, 84 cars were seized.

Chief Superintendent Stevie Mackay, from Northern Constabulary, said: “We will continue to patrol Scotland’s roads day and night.”
