Driver tries to abduct girl on busy road

POLICE are investigating an attempted abduction after a driver tried to drag a 14-year-old girl into his car on a busy main road.

The teenager was making her way home along Mill Street in Rutherglen, Glasgow, when a small green car pulled alongside her and the driver tried to make conversation with her.

When the girl ignored him and continued walking, the man got out of the car and tried to grab her. She managed to run off along nearby Blairbeth Road and made her way home. The suspect is described as white, aged around 30 and of medium build.

"The man approached the girl on Mill Street, near to the funeral directors. We are keen to speak to anyone who was in this area around 10pm and saw a small green car, or indeed to anyone who may have any information or suspicions about the driver of a green car."
