Driver killed in car crash from Capital

A MAN who died after crashing his car into a tree on a rural road in highland Perthshire has been named by police.

Grant Farquharson, 34, of Orchard Brae Gardens, Edinburgh, was driving his Mazda MX-3 west along the north side of Loch Rannoch when it left the road and ploughed into the tree on the loch side of the road on Sunday night.

A man who was driving past saw the crash on the B846 Kinloch Rannoch to Rannoch Station road, and called the police and emergency services at about 7.10pm.

The motorist stayed with the man until emergency services arrived at the scene, but Mr Farquharson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tayside Police said no other vehicles were involved in the collision, and that the road was closed by police for several hours to allow an accident investigation to take place.
