Driver killed in head-on collision named

POLICE have named a 23-year-old man who died in a head-on collision with another vehicle.

Kevin Mclean, from Errol, Perthshire, was killed when his red Honda Accord collided with a red Mitsubishi ASX on the B958 St Madoes to Errol road, near Mains of Murie Farm, Perthshire.

Paramedics and fire crews rushed to the incident shortly after 2.30pm on Friday but Mclean was declared dead at the scene.

A 52-year-old woman, who was driving the Mitsubishi, was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. Tayside Police said relatives of Mclean, who lived with his partner at Gas Brae, Errol, have been informed.

Inspector Grant Edward, the senior investigating officer, and head of road policing in the Perth and Kinross area, said: "My sincere thoughts and condolences are with the immediate family and friends of Kevin at this very difficult time."

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in Perth.
