Driver faces charge over cannabis use

A MAN has been arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of cannabis.

The 31-year-old, from Dalkeith, was stopped by police on the A7 near the town's Tesco store.

He was taken to Dalkeith police station and charged following the incident last Thursday, and was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 19 March.

Meanwhile, officers in Dalkeith carried out high-visibility patrols at licensed premises and streets in the town centre on Friday and Saturday night as part of a blitz against antisocial behaviour.

Police said particular attention was given to the town's Woodburn Miners' Club, where a large social event was being held on Friday.

Three people in the premises were issued with fixed penalty notices for antisocial behaviour.
