Driver dies after forcing police off road

A MAN who was behind the wheel of a minibus which forced a police car off the road has died.

The white minibus was seen "driving erratically" on the M74 near Glasgow early yesterday morning.

A Strathclyde Police spokesman said officers attempted to stop the minibus at around 4:45am but "it appears the police vehicle was forced off the road".

The minibus continued north for three miles before hitting the central reservation. The 38-year-old driver died at the scene.

Two male police officers suffered minor injuries and were taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride.
