Drive-by gun thugs shoot jogger in head

A WOMAN was struck in the head and hand by airgun pellets in a drive-by shooting involving two cars while she was out jogging.

The victim saw what appeared to be air rifles pointing out of the windows of a pair of cars as she was out running at around 3pm on Sunday.

The woman, who is from the Haddington area, was running from East Garleton towards the roundabout off the A199 at Haldane Avenue, when she was struck from behind by yellow pellets.

A police spokeswoman said: "The victim noted two vehicles ahead, with their windows open, with the occupants holding what appeared to be airgun rifles. Fortunately, she only sustained minor injuries.

"The vehicles involved are described as a bright blue Ford Fiesta and a black Ford Fiesta or Ford Focus. Members of the public with information can contact police on 0131-311 3131, or Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111."
