Drinker gets 8 months for pub assault

A PUB thug continued a vicious assault on a fellow drinker even after he had knocked the man out, a court heard.

Craig Armstrong, 30, repeatedly kicked William Scott while he lay on the floor unconscious.

Then he dragged his senseless victim outside and began banging his head on the concrete floor of a shopping mall.

The attack only stopped when Armstrong was pulled off by other customers, Livingston Sheriff Court was told.

Armstrong, of Norman Rise, Livingston, was sent to prison for eight and half months yesterday after he pleaded guilty on indictment to assaulting Mr Scott to his injury.

The attack happened at the Paraffin Lamp public house in Almondvale Centre, Livingston, on a Sunday evening last November.

Armstrong, who was on bail at the time of the offence, admitted previous convictions including one for assault and robbery.

Prosecutor Graham Fraser said that 59-year-old Mr Scott had become involved in an argument with another customer which resulted in Mr Scott swinging a couple of punches at the other man after which Armstrong became involved.
