Drink upsets householders

STREET drinking and antisocial behaviour at a city library and park have sparked complaints from local residents.

Residents have listed trouble outside of Morningside Library and within Hermitage Park as “policing priorities” for community officers to tackle.

People in Marchmont reckoned loud music being played in the Spottiswoode and Warrender Park areas, home to a large student population, was a pressing issue.

The priorities were identified by residents attending the force’s Have Your Say meetings, which are held every three months with local policing teams in attendance.

The number of cyclists failing to use lights at night when riding on Morningside Road was also highlighted as a continuing problem.

During last year, the St Leonard’s Safer Neighbourhood Team Cycle Unit carried out patrols monitoring cycling in the Meadows area after complaints of dangerous cycling.
