Drink-driver caught for second time

A 61 year-old motorist has been caught over the legal alcohol limit for the second time.

Robert McMahon was stopped driving drunk when he was already disqualified in Livingston on Sunday.

McMahon, of Leving Place, Livingston, pleaded guilty at the town's sheriff court yesterday to the latest offence.

Tests showed he had 87mg of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - more than twice the 35mg legal limit.

Stewart Peebles, defending, said his client was taking medication for gout.

Sheriff Martin Edington disqualified McMahon from driving with immediate effect and called for a social background report. Sentence was deferred until January 27.
