What was your favourite childhood outfit?

DK: A white organza ballerina party dress with tiny gold stars.

AB: An ultramarine dress with fluorescent pink and yellow flowers.

What were you wearing when you met your present partner?

DK: A very short Mary Quant black and white dress.

AB: A jacket in khaki cotton drill, with a white T-shirt and jeans.

What did you wear to get married?

DK: I was married in the 1960s and wore a heavy silk slash-neck, three-quarter sleeve cream dress.

AB: I was married in 1993 and wore an empire-line, short-sleeved cream silk dress with a cream cashmere wrap.

Do you have Saturday night underwear?

DK: Queene and Belle vintage slips, which I wear as outerwear.

AB: All my underwear has been made redundant since I saw the new Stella McCartney lingerie collection – a must for Monday, Tuesday ...

Prada or Primark?

DK: Prada – for its vintage grown-up sex appeal.

AB: It's Prada every time for me.

What was your worst fashion faux-pas?

DK: Patterned tights.

AB: Every time I've had my hair cut short.

If you could afford any designer, who would you choose?

DK: Marni, for its high-tech bohemian look.

AB: Martin Margiela.
