'Dragons' asked to breathe fresh life into health board

AN IDEAS team has been set up in the Lothians which allows health workers who have dreamed up new concepts to propose them in a formal environment.

Nicknamed the "Dragons' Den team", the three entrepreneurs will hear the ideas and inventions of staff to see if they can be transformed into reality.

It is hoped the scheme will encourage employees to come forward with ideas and benefit the health service.

Enterprise associate Jenny Cusiter said: "Our aim is the realise more value for NHS Lothian's assets by looking at ways we can take an entrepreneurial approach to what is going on within the organisation.

"At the moment, the focus is not only about making money but also saving time and resources, which is equally important and equates to saving money for the organisation ultimately.

"But we are certainly not going to turn down a great concept that we could develop and commercialise for the organisation."
