Double death blaze farm still too unsafe for police to enter

Police investigating a farmhouse blaze in which an elderly brother and sister are feared dead said the property was still too unsafe to enter.

Officers have yet to trace David Millar, 65, and Mary, 75, following the fire at the two-storey house in Denny, Falkirk, in the early hours of Wednesday.

A member of public raised the alarm after seeing the property at Castlerankine Farm alight at around 3.45am. Fire appliances struggled through snow to reach the building.

Central Scotland Police said work was still being done to dampen down the building before they could go inside.

A statement issued after the fire said: "Circumstances surrounding the fire are being investigated although it is believed not to be suspicious.

"At present the building is too dangerous for emergency services to enter.

"The occupants of the house have not yet been traced and police are trying to establish their whereabouts."
