Dolly centre lands £10m

THE animal science research centre behind Dolly the Sheep today landed a £10 million funding boost.

Experts at the Roslin Institute in Easter Bush, Midlothian, will use the Scottish Government cash to develop an international livestock 
improvement centre.

The institute, which is part of Edinburgh University, is seen as the world-leading campus for animal health studies.

The investment was revealed by Education Secretary Michael Russell.

Professor David Hume, director of the Roslin Institute, said: “This investment will help to keep Scotland at the forefront of livestock research internationally.”
