Dogs mystery for police

Police are appealing for help in tracing the owner of two dogs running loose in Bathgate.

Officers were called at 9.30am yesterday after a male black Labrador-type dog and a ginger-coloured mongrel were seen running loose with leads attached near the greenkeeper's shed of Bathgate Golf Course.

A search of the area was set up over concerns for the owner's safety, as it was feared they may have been injured while out with the dogs. Both dogs were wearing brightly-coloured leads with a distinctive pattern.

The Labrador-type dog is being cared for by police, while the ginger mongrel is still running loose.

A police spokesperson said: "We would appeal for anyone who can help identify the owner to get in touch."
