Dog rescued by fire crews

FIRE crews were faced with a rather unusual rescue when a Scottish Dear Hound leapt a wall at Gypsy Brae and plummeted on to a breakwater.

The 18-month-old dog was stranded on rocks at West Shore Road yesterday afternoon and needed to be winched to safety by firefighters using a short extension latter and a line harness.

The pet was then handed over to its relieved owner at around 4.20pm – 20 minutes after it fell.

Firefighters from McDonald Road attended the incident, standing in for Crewe Toll.
