Letter: Unionist politics

Stuart Eels (Letters, 9 October) writes "I'll happily give you a cheery wave goodbye, as would 67 per cent of the English" - well, thank you Mr Eels, I for one would be delighted to reciprocate the wave, in a "cheery" manner, based on respect and equality of esteem.

Unfortunately, Mr Eels, like many of his compatriots, fails to understand the realities of Scotland's constitutional position in this union. It is the three London-based Unionist parties that have ensured there will be no referendum on the "independence question". Could Mr Eels tell us why - and in which part of England would he like Trident?
