Doctors warned against flu jabs

SCOTTISH doctors have been warned against using a particular brand of flu vaccine on children after a possible increased risk of fits was identified in Australian youngsters.

Chief Medical Officer Harry Burns has written to doctors ahead of the winter flu season warning against use of the Enzira and CSL Biotherapies generic flu jab in children under five..

Dr Burns said: "It is important that children over six months of age who are in clinical risk groups receive influenza vaccination."

His letter said that given that other products had not been linked with a similar level of risk, doctors should ensure they had alternative stocks to give to children.
