Dizaei kicked out of force

DISGRACED senior police officer Ali Dizaei was finally kicked out of Scotland Yard yesterday.

The 47-year-old commander had remained an officer without powers since starting a four-year jail term for corruption in February. He was convicted of assaulting and falsely arresting a man who was trying to get money out of him for a website.

After secret talks in London, the Metropolitan Police Authority dismissed him with immediate effect. James Cleverly, vice-chairman of its professional standards cases sub-committee, said: "The tribunal recommended that the only appropriate sanction was dismissal from the service."
