Disqualified driver caught for 18th time

A MOTORIST was jailed after he was caught driving while disqualified for the 18th time.

It was also Alan Boulter's 17th conviction for driving without insurance.

Boulter, 26, a bricklayer from Livingston, West Lothian, pleaded guilty to both motoring offences when he appeared from custody yesterday.

He was driving a workmate's car when he was stopped by police in Livingston on Monday morning, Livingston Sheriff Court was told.

Jim Wardlaw, defending, said Boulter had foolishly decided to use the car to travel from his mother's home in Livingston to the shops and back.

He added: "This was an impulsive act and a stupid thing to do after resisting behaviour of this nature for two years."

Sheriff Martin Edington jailed Boulter for ten months and banned him from driving for ten years.
