Disgraced ex-Hibs star Garry O’Connor to appeal over drugs conviction

DISGRACED football star Garry O’Connor is to appeal his conviction for possession of cocaine and obstructing police on Friday.

The former-Hibs star narrowly escaped prison when he was convicted of the two charges at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in June last year.

O’Connor, 29, from Longniddry was found guilty of obstructing police officers on May 14 last year in Hope Street Lane North, Edinburgh and running away from them.

He was also found guilty of possessing half an ounce of the Class A drug cocaine on the same date. When he was sentenced to 200 hours community service he was told both offences could have led to up to 12 months in jail.
