Dior model still adores Galliano

A MODEL wearing a creation by British designer John Galliano as part of Dior's autumn- winter ready-to-wear 2012 fashion collection blew kisses into the audience yesterday in Paris.

The French fashion house's chief executive officer, Sidney Toledano, made a statement on the catwalk before the show saying it was "deeply painful to see the Dior name associated with the disgraceful statements attributed to its designer".

Police in Paris briefly detained Galliano last week after a couple in a bar accused him of making anti-Semitic remarks. He also allegedly traded slaps with them.

Footage later emerged of a separate incident in which he was shown telling two women in a caf: "I love Hitler."

The designer was sacked by the fashion house after the video footage became public.

Galliano later apologised "unreservedly" for his behaviour and said racism "has no part in our society".

"I completely deny the claims made against me and have fully co-operated with the police," Galliano added.

The John Galliano fashion label is dropping a plan for a catwalk show in Paris Fashion Week and will instead host a simple presentation of its latest collection.

The presentation will take place tomorrow.
