DFID counts cost of stolen phone

A THIEF made calls totalling almost £1,000 after stealing a phone from the Department for International Development in Iraq.

The phone was taken from the department's offices in the capital Baghdad, and was used to make a number of calls before staff realised it had gone.

The satellite phone went missing in June 2008 and cost DFID 766.66 in calls and replacement equipment.
