'Devastating blow' as 60 bedding jobs face axe

A BEDDING firm in Secretary of State for Scotland Michael Moore's constituency is facing closure with the loss of around 60 jobs.

Management at Slumberdown Enterprises, based in Hawick, called in administrators Ernst and Young yesterday. Unite Union representative Tony Trench criticised the Slumberdown management last night.

He said: "This is a disgrace. Our members are furious. There were no members of management on the site today and will be interesting to see if they have the guts to come to tomorrow's meeting."

Michael Moore MP said: "This is a devastating blow to the people who work there and the town. It appears the group as a whole is in trouble. Ernst and Young are set to speak to the workforce tomorrow."
