‘Desperate’ Craighouse letter blasted

A FRESH row has broken out over the proposed Craighouse campus overhaul after developers sent a letter to fellow city planning professionals seeking support for the controversial application.

William Gray Muir, of Sundial Properties, has written to more than 260 city planning developers and consultancies in which he claims that opposition to the plans amounts to a “significant attack on the principle of private development within the city”.

The letter also reads: “To balance this orchestrated campaign objecting to the development, I’m asking you to consider writing in support of the proposals to the council.”

Campaign group Friends of Craighouse Grounds and Woods has hit back, labelling the missive “a desperate bid to drum up support” for the plans.

Campaign leader Rosy Barnes said: “It’s disappointing that a developer seems to be openly urging other property professionals to write in to support these plans. This action smacks of desperation.”

Plans for the site have recently been lodged with city planners and residents have until December 21 to comment.
