'Del Boy' bars top poll of decor horrors

Built-in bars top the list of the worst furniture fads of the last 30 years, a report published today claims.

Despite taking pride of place in Del Boy's front room, the drinks station was deemed a greater home furnishing crime that mock fireplaces or animal print rugs.

Textured walls were the biggest interior design horror of the last three decades, the survey by the Post Office found.

Of the 2,002 people interviewed, 23 per cent said built-in bars were the worst furniture mistake of recent decades.

They topped a list that also included net curtains and reproduction "antiques", while textured walls were deemed to be more offensive than woodchip and fake laminated wood floors.
