Dee's salmon catches up by 27%

SALMON catches on the Dee, Scotland's premier spring salmon river, have increased by more than 27 per cent this year.

The number of sea trout caught has also more than doubled in two years, according to the district salmon fishery board and the River Dee Trust.

Ken Reid, fisheries development officer, said rod catches on the Dee had totalled 7,352 salmon and grilse - a 27.4 per cent increase on last year's catch.
