Death of injured man sparks murder inquiry

DETECTIVES have launched a murder inquiry after a man found seriously injured across the road from a pub died.

The 29-year-old victim was discovered opposite the Maryhill Tavern in Maryhill Road, Glasgow, at around 10pm on Wednesday.

He was taken to the city's Southern General Hospital where he died yesterday morning.

Strathclyde Police appealed for information about the incident. Detective Inspector John Kennedy said: "Our investigation is still at an early stage to establish the full circumstances of how this man came about his injuries, however police are treating the death as murder and a murder inquiry has now been launched.

"Extensive inquiries are ongoing and officers are currently carrying out door-to-door inquiries and studying CCTV footage in an effort to glean further information."
