Death crash motorcyclist named

THE motorcyclist who was killed in a collision with a car in Aberdeenshire on Wednesday night has been named as Malcolm Kennedy, 48, an oil industry worker from Dyce.

Mr Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene on the A957 "Slug" road between Stonehaven and Banchory at Rickarton.

A 50 year-old woman from Tayside, the driver of the Vauxhall Astra involved in the collision, was said to be shocked but uninjured.

Three months ago Grampian Police launched a summer-long safety campaign called Operation Zenith.

Although bikers make up only 2 per cent of motorists in the Grampian region, they accounted for 26 per cent of the 31 deaths on the area's roads last year.
