Death-crash driver's ban is lifted so that he can get a job

A MAN who killed his girlfriend in a high-speed crash has had a driving ban lifted so he can get a job. Stuart McGill was jailed in 2006 for causing the death of Lynzay McKay, 19, in the crash near Hamilton, Lanarkshire, two years earlier.

McGill, 27, was also banned from the road for seven years. He was at the High Court in Glasgow yesterday seeking the early removal of his disqualification.

His lawyer said McGill wished to secure work, thought to be as a forklift truck driver.

The court heard this would allow him to support his children better – one of whom he had with Ms McKay.

McGill, then of Larkhall, had been imprisoned for three years and nine months after admitting he caused death by dangerous driving.
