Dealer jailed for drug haul

A DRUG dealer was caught by police after neighbours reported a strong smell of cannabis in an alleyway next to his former home, a court has heard.

When police raided the home of Stuart Weir, they found around 10,000 worth of the class B drug, Livingston Sheriff Court was told.

Weir, 32, of Longridge, West Lothian, was jailed for two years and four months yesterday.

He had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to possessing cannabis with intent to supply at a house in nearby Blackridge in January.

The court was told Weir now regretted succumbing to temptation to get involved in the supply of illegal drugs in a bid to pay off debts.

He had been promised that he was likely to make a 4000 profit by dealing in cannabis.
