Dead body discovered on path in Holyrood Park

Police were carrying out investigations last night after a body was discovered on a footpath in Holyrood Park yesterday.

Forensic teams were seen on a hill in the park yesterday morning, hours after thousands of people had walked through as part of the Moonwalk event. Police sealed off the walkway near to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen's residence in the capital, before removing the body in the early afternoon.

Last night, police said they were still investigating the incident. A spokesman said: "Lothian and Borders police are carrying out inquiries at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh into an incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

"No further details are available at this time."
