Dead Aberdeen dog walker named by police

THE female dog walker whose body was found yesterday at an Aberdeen nature reserve has been named as Margaret McNolty, 52, from the Woodend area of the city.

The body of Ms McNolty was discovered yesterday morning at the Maidencraig Nature Reserve in the Hazlehead area of the city, near the Aberdeen Crematorium. Her black collie dog was still at her side.

She had been seen walking the dog in the Den of Maidencraig area in the early hours of yesterday morning. Detectives are still trying to establish how she died.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are on-going to establish the circumstances. A total of 18 officers are currently working on the enquiry which includes the Underwater Search Unit, search teams and detectives.”

She continued: “A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.”
