Danish bid to avoid Islamic tensions

Denmark's foreign minister Lene Esperson yesterday met with ambassadors from 17 Muslim countries in a move to avoid tensions ahead of the five-year anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad cartoons.

The drawings first appeared in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten on 30 September, 2005, sparking protests in Muslim countries.
