Dance group handed £19k funds boost

A SINGING and dancing group for more than 100 youngsters in Boghall has been awarded £19,000 from Children in Need.

The Boghall Popskool, which meets at Boghall Primary School every Monday evening, has secured the funding.

Choreographer Lindsay Osborne said: "Securing funding allows the Popskool to remain free to attend, which ensures that everyone can participate."

She added: "Dance is an excellent medium for teaching young people important life skills and to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

"Every Monday we hold two sessions, one for primary age children and the second for under-18s."

The tutors at Popskool are professional dancers and singers. At the end of every term, youngsters perform their newly-learned dance routines and songs at a show for the whole community of Boghall.
