Damages reform backed

Reforms of the way compensation is paid to relatives of wrongful death victims have been backed by MSPs.

Labour MSP Bill Butler's Damages Bill is aimed at speeding up and simplifying pay-outs.

It takes forward recommendations made in a 2008 by the Scottish Law Commission.

Reforms to regulate the factoring industry and manage rogue landlords were also passed in the Scottish Parliament.

Patricia Ferguson's Property Factors Bill requires property managers to sign up to a code of conduct.
