Dairy founder Wiseman dies

THE founder of family dairy business Robert Wiseman has died at the age of 88, his family said today.

Robert Ramsey Wiseman died after suffering a heart attack while playing bowls on Tuesday afternoon.

The founder of the giant dairy firm, which bears his name, started the company in 1947, using his farm horse and cart to deliver milk.

A statement issued on behalf of the family said it was with "deep regret" that they announced the businessman’s death. "He drew great pleasure from watching the business grow and transform into a successful Plc, under the stewardship of his sons," it read.

Mr Wiseman is survived by wife Jean, four sons, a daughter and 16 grandchildren.
