Cyclists pay the penalty

ALMOST 100 cyclists in the Capital were issued with fixed penalty notices for dangerous or inconsiderate cycling over the last year.

Lothian and Borders Police issued 97 fines for causing danger on the city’s roads.

In the Meadows, 30 cyclists were fined in just two months.

The St Leonards Safer Neighbourhood Team Cycle Unit also handed out 50 warnings.

In addition, police provided a free security marking service to bikes belonging to 273 cyclists.
